The Battle of Sainte-Foy, which is also sometimes called the Battle of Quebec, took place on April 28, 1760. French commander Levis's army consisted of 5,000 troops with eight battalions while the British army consisted of around 3,800 troops with ten battalions. There were 40 yard intervals between each battalion. The British left flank troops captured some redoubts; small fort or fort system usually used to protect soldiers that are outside the fort. To retaliate to this, Levis sent an extremely strong attack from the right. Murray countered this by using his 3rd and 60th regiments to stop the attack. Another surprising thing Murray did was he took his 43rd regiment out of the middle and moved it to help the left flank. They could not, however, get there in time and the British line collapsed from left to right.
At the beginning, the British cannons were keeping the French away but things changed as the cannons ran out of ammunition. The cannons got stuck in snow as they were trying to move them so the British spiked the cannons and retreated. The British lost 259 and had 829 wounded. On the opposite side, the French lost 193 and had 640 wounded. This was a victory for the French.
