The Invasion of Martinique took place from January 5th to February 12th, 1762. On January 5th, British ships approached the area of Martinique landing on ports and beginning to move their equipment for the attack. This took almost 20 days until on January 24th, the attack was launched by the British army. The British had attacked from the front and while this was all going on, they assembled a unit to attack the left flank. It only took until 9:00 that day until they captured the whole position of Morne Tortenson. The British lost about 380 people in this short battle.
On January 25th, the British led by Robert Monckton, were in range of Fort Royal. On January 27th, before Monckton could launch an attack, the French at the redoubts formed three columns and attacked Monckton's left flank. During the attack, one of the French columns got obliterated by its flank and this caused the other two columns to retreat as the British forces chased them. Night came, and the British did not stop laying heavy fire upon the French until every French troop was killed and they captured everything. On February 3rd, Fort Royal surrendered and on February 12th the entire island had been captured.
