**This picture above took place during the Siege of Fort William Henry**
George Monro was born in 1700 in the Kingdom of Ireland. He is best known for his unsuccessful defense at the Fort of William Henry during the French and Indian War in 1757. Even though his army stood little to no chance from the beginning of the siege, he was honored for his surrender negotiations because he was able to negotiate his troops to be escorted to safety. That was the plan, until the Indians attacked without order, killing much of his remaining army. Monro survived these attacks, but died unexpectedly three months later on November 3, 1757 in Albany.
